Tidepooling can be described as the act of finding and learning about intertidal organisms left behind during a low tide and includes sea stars, anemones, coraline algae, hermit crabs, tidepool sculpins, chitons, and nudibranchs. Besides pools of water in rock or sand, the sides of large boulders are often a refugia worth investigating as well because vertical surfaces are often in safe zones from foot traffic and the Sun. The timing of our trip coincides with one of the last of the negative low tide series of our summer dry season. We will visit a local aquarium, enjoy wildlife large and small, and have two mornings for tidepool exploration.
